How to sound like a Super Bowl expert with Jim Sharpe, Ron Wolfley

Feb 2, 2018, 3:06 PM

Sunday is the Super Bowl and you know what that means: It’s time to desperately sound like you have some idea of football terminology when all you want to do is scarf down wings and watch the commercials.

Luckily, we have a couple of in-house experts (well, one expert and one funny guy) who are here to help.

Ron Wolfley, co-host of Doug & Wolf on 98.7 FM Arizona’s Sports Station, played 10 seasons in the National Football League. Seven of them were with the Cardinals, though the team moved from St. Louis to Arizona during his tenure.

He also was named to the Pro Bowl four times, so he knows a little bit about the game.

The other guy, Jim Sharpe, is the co-host of KTAR News 92.3 FM’s Arizona’s Morning News. He knows football. Kind of. OK, not really.

Anyway, we asked Wolfley and Sharpe to give us some terms you can throw around during the big game to make it sound like you’re a football insider.

Before we get to the terms, a little bit about the game: Sunday’s game will pit the Philadelphia Eagles against the New England Patriots inside U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Kickoff was scheduled for 4:30 p.m., so you should probably plan on hitting the grocery store for snacks about 3 p.m.

Check out the video above to learn how to sound like a football expert.
