Crash closes I-17 northbound in Phoenix for hours, freeway reopened

PHOENIX — A crash closed the northbound lanes of Interstate 17 in Phoenix on Monday for hours, but it was reopened just before the afternoon commute.
The Arizona Department of Transportation said the freeway was closed at Indian School Road about noon. Some traffic was able to get by in the carpool and left lanes.

One of the right lanes was reopened more than an hour later.

The freeway was fully reopened about 3 p.m

The northbound on-ramp at Thomas Road was also closed for a time.
The closure caused long delays.

It was unknown if anyone was injured in the crash.
Southbound traffic was not affected.
