PHOENIX — The Chandler Police Department said there has been no viable threat made toward Basha High School, despite reports that said otherwise.
According to Seth Tyler, a spokesman with the department, the “threat” was made by a student who made the statement during a conversation with another student in class.
Other students picked up on the “threat” and it quickly spread.
The statement also was not made on social media, Tyler said, but was posted onto social media by “other, unknown students.”
“There is nothing to suggest these individuals notified police or a responsible adult prior to, or after posting the message,” Tyler said.
Despite the lack of a credible threat, Tyler said there will be additional uniformed personnel in the vicinity of the campus on Friday and a long form complaint will be sent to the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office for review.
