PHOENIX — Arizona knows its Netflix, apparently.
Netflix viewers in the Grand Canyon State followed suit with the rest of the nation and made “Orange is the New Black” its favorite show on the streaming platform, according to new data.
The data, from 2017, shows the popular program was the most searched show in 15 states which also included New York, Ohio and Montana.
It turns out “Orange is the New Black” is especially popular in the southern states.
But Netflix viewers in Arizona like the show a lot, too.
In fact, the data shows Arizona was the only state with the same favorite Netflix show in both 2016 and 2017. The award-winning show started in 2013 and features Taylor Schilling, Laura Prepon and Michael Harney. The show is headed into its sixth season.
Netflix users streamed a total of one billion hours of programming per week in 2017.
So, what’s ahead for this year?
If data late in the year is any indication, “American Vandal” could be a Netflix favorite. Last year, five states picked the new show as its favorite Netflix program.
The show, which started in 2017, is a true-crime series which explores a story where a high school is stunned by an act of vandalism.
