PHOENIX — If you are looking for a job in 2018, the Valley might be the place for you.

According to a recent study conducted by WalletHub, Chandler and Scottsdale have ranked as the two best cities in the nation to find a job this year.

But that was not all: Peoria and Gilbert also ranked among the top five cities for jobs in the new year. The highest employment growth in the country also went to Chandler, Peoria and Gilbert.

Gilbert was also found to have the second-highest median income. Tempe, Mesa and Phoenix also ranked among the top 100 cities in the country for jobs, with Tempe coming in at No. 20, Mesa at No. 56 and Phoenix coming in at No. 61.

Tucson barely missed the top 100, coming in at 102nd in the country.

Jim Rounds with the Rounds Consulting Group said Arizona could be among the top five states in the country when it comes to job and population growth this year.

“Overall, Arizona is on solid footing,” he said. “Expect us…to be in the top five, both for job growth and population growth.”

While both Phoenix and Tucson are helping to boost the state economically, Rounds said rural areas are continuing to struggle.

“The greater Phoenix area is on some pretty solid footing. The Tucson area still has its rough patches, but they’re working on things like infrastructure and economic development programs.”

“The parameter of the state is continuing to struggle,” he added. “We will need to get clever with the marketing and economic tools in those areas.”

We want to hear from you.
