U.S. Sen. John McCain named among most admired men of 2017

PHOENIX — U.S. Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) has been named among the most admired men of 2017, according to a recent Gallup poll.
The poll showed that McCain is the fifth-most admired man across the globe this year.
The senior Arizona senator was beat out by President Donald Trump, Pope Francis and Rev. Billy Graham.
However, the president himself did not take the title for most-admired man: That honor went to former President Barack Obama, who won with 17 percent of the vote.
Obama also held the title each year of his presidency and the year he was elected, according to USA Today.
In the 71 years that Gallup has been conducting this poll, only seven presidents have not secured the title of most-admired: Harry Truman, Lyndon Johnson, Richard Nixon, Gerald Ford, Jimmy Carter, George W. Bush and Trump.
The other men who made the list of most-admired included Elon Musk, Sen. Bernie Sanders, Bill Gates, Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Jeff Bezos, The Dalai Lama and Vice President Mike Pence.
On the other end, the title of most-admired woman went to former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.
She was followed by former first lady Michelle Obama, Oprah Winfrey, Sen. Elizabeth Warren, German Chancellor Angela Merkel and Queen Elizabeth II.
