KTAR’s Main Street Minute focuses on local businesses that are hiring, opening and hosting events across the community. Stories air each weekday on KTAR at 7:27 a.m.

• Volunteer elves from Walmart will distribute gift cards to parents and wrapped presents to 50 children in need from the Alhambra Elementary School District in Phoenix on Friday. Festivities at the school district’s family resource center near 39th and Glendale avenues will include food, music and special appearances from Arizona Cardinals cheerleaders, retired NFL players and of course, Santa Claus. The fun is set to start at 1 p.m.

• Fox Restaurant Concept plans to open another Flower Child eatery in the spring. The healthy food restaurant will expand to Desert Ridge Marketplace near Loop 101 and Tatum Boulevard. It will be the fourth location in metro Phoenix.

• More than 100 Tuft and Needle employees are spreading holiday cheer across the Valley on Friday. The Phoenix-based mattress company is holding its Social Mission Day, giving employees the chance to volunteer at one of eight nonprofits, including Habitat for Humanity, Ronald McDonald House and Halo Pet Rescue.
