PHOENIX — Tucson made the list of the most hipster cities in the nation, according to a new U.S. ranking.
The list, from Movehub.com, ranked the cities based on the number of microbreweries, vegan stores, tattoo parlors and thrift stores per 100,000 city residents. The ranking also looked at demand for rent in those areas.
Tucson ranked No. 14 on a list of 30 cities and beat out places such as Seattle and Reno, Nevada.
The listing mentioned Sky Bar Tucson, a solar-powered cafe and bar as one of the city’s trendiest night spots that apparently bolstered the city’s overall score. The spot features telescopes on the patio for those interested in some night time astronomy.
Vancouver, Washington, topped the list with a score of 8.23. Portland scored 6.58 while Denver chalked up a score of 5.75.
Other notable Arizona cities scored well below Tucson’s high mark.
The southern Arizona city received a 6.39 grade – 1.28 higher than Tempe and 1.45 above Scottsdale’s score. Tempe and Scottsdale didn’t come in the top 30.
Gilbert and Phoenix had the lowest scores in the state while Tempe, Scottsdale were in striking distance of making the list.
Tempe scored 5.11 while Scottsdale drew a 4.94 tally.
