Here are some tips for eating healthy this holiday season

Holiday meals don’t care about your diet. Many people struggle to maintain eating habits that they have set for themselves during the season.
First of all, don’t over think it, said local registered dietician Jessica Lehmann.
“A diet is really about an overall pattern of eating,” she said. “You know in a week that’s like 21 meals, throw in a few dozen snacks.”
One holiday meal shouldn’t be a reason to give up or to despair.
But when the family is all together and all that food is laid out, here is a tip to try to have your cake — and diet, too.
“Make sure that most of your plate really is piled high with nutrient-rich foods,” she said. “And then you can have your little treats, and it might be just enough to that taste.”
Also don’t treat holiday meals like they are so special, and that you will never have a chance to eat certain foods again.
Lehmann said holidays are also supposed to be about sharing, caring and family.
