Main Street Minute: Boeing grants to help fund Mesa schools’ programs

• International aerospace giant Boeing has given 10 grants totaling $685,000 to programs in Arizona, including to the Mesa school district to help inspire the next generation of rocket scientists and engineers. Boeing is funding three STEM programs in the district.
• The Arizona Sports and Tourism Authority board of directors has voted to award $2.5 million to 23 organizations that promote youth and amateur sports programs in Maricopa County. Some of the money will fund renovation of the football field at Tempe Marcos de Niza High School.
• The Arizona Department of Gaming announcing a nearly 5 percent jump in tribal gaming contributions,making it three straight quarterly increases.
