PHOENIX — A Phoenix-area highway has reopened after multiple crashes, one fatal, caused it to close down in both directions early Monday morning, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation.
The Loop 101 has reopened in both directions at 90th Street in Scottsdale.
Northbound Loop 101 was closed at 90th Street in Scottsdale and southbound lanes were closed at Shea for several hours, starting around 6 a.m.
A motorcyclist was killed when a pickup truck hit the motorcycle, which had stopped on the left shoulder in northbound lanes, according to Arizona Department of Public Safety Trooper Kameron Lee.
The truck caught fire and damaged parts sailed across the median wall and landed on at least one vehicle heading south.
