Analysis shows Phoenix one of better foodie cities in country

PHOENIX — If you are a Valley foodie, chances are you are in luck if you love affordable, diverse and readily accessible food.
Eight Valley cities made WalletHub’s “Best Foodie Cities in America” list and most ranked in the top 100 on the tally, released earlier this week.
Phoenix ranked 23rd overall and 10th in affordability in a ranking where WalletHub’s analysts compared more than 180 U.S. cities across 24 key indicators that ranged from cost of groceries versus accessibility of high-quality restaurants to food festivals per capita.
Phoenix, Tempe and Scottsdale were all in the top-50. Tucson came in at 28th overall and ranked 13th in affordability.
Other Arizona cities did not rank so well.
Mesa landed just outside the top-50 at No. 71 overall while Chandler was 81st overall.
Peoria was No. 112 overall, Gilbert ranked 125th and Glendale was right behind with a 126th overall ranking.
Valley cities also ranked high on a subcategory: “Lowest Average Beer and Wine Price.” Six cities — Chandler, Gilbert, Mesa, Phoenix, Scottsdale and Glendale — all tied for the overall best ranking in that category.
San Francisco ranked number one overall.
