• There’s a big recycling event of outdated electronics, toys, bicycles, office supplies and more this weekend. Phoenix residents can drop them off Saturday between 8 a.m. and 1 p.m. behind the AMC theaters at Desert Ridge Marketplace near Loop 101 and Tatum Boulevard.

• Sauce Pizza and Wine is celebrating the opening of its newest Valley location in Queen Creek on Saturday by donating all of the day’s proceeds to 2nd Chance Dog Rescue. In addition, the first 50 guests will receive a $10 gift card with their purchase.

• The University of Arizona Steele Children’s Research Center has received more than $8 million in endowment gifts, the largest in its 25-year history. The money will support faculty research in pediatric diseases and give researchers access to the latest technology and equipment.
