PHOENIX — A man was arrested for first-degree murder in Phoenix on Sunday after he allegedly intentionally ran over his girlfriend with his car, according to the Phoenix Police Department.
According to police, Ricardo Garcia, 26, got into an argument with his live-in girlfriend, Anjelica Moraga, 28, in a parking lot near Victory Street and Central Avenue in Phoenix around 11 p.m. on Sunday.
At some point, police said, Garcia backed his car into Moraga’s car, which had her two children in it at the time. He then allegedly looped around the parking lot and rammed into her vehicle again.
Moraga then got out on foot when Garcia intentionally ran her over with his car and then fled the scene, police said. Moraga was taken to a local hospital, where she later died of her injuries.
Police arrested Garcia when they were called to an alley near First Avenue and Apache, where Moraga’s family had located Garcia and was fighting with him in the car.
Garcia was booked on one count of first degree murder and four counts of aggravated assault.
