PHOENIX — Two Arizona cities have been ranked among the top 100 fastest-growing cities in the nation, according to a study from WalletHub.
Gilbert was ranked as the 52nd fastest growing city in the U.S., while Tempe followed shortly behind at No. 85.
Several other cities in Arizona made the list, but did not crack the top 100. Phoenix ranked the 120th fastest-growing city in the U.S., while Scottsdale ranked 106th. Mesa came in as the 162nd fastest-growing city, while Chandler came in at No. 252.
But one Arizona city ranked lower than the rest: Tucson came in as the 477th fastest-growing city in the nation, the study found. The study, named 2017’s Fastest-Growing Cities in America, compared 515 cities of varying sizes over seven years.
In individual categories, Tempe ranked 55th in the nation for socio-demographics, which was defined by three types of population growth: Population growth, working-age population growth and college-educated population growth.
Scottsdale ranked 47th for socio-demographics.
In terms of large cities, Phoenix ranked as the 19th fastest growth large city in the nation, out of the 64 large cities that were assessed. Mesa ranked as the 23rd fastest-growing large city.
But being named among the top 100 fastest-growing cities in the nation isn’t the only honor Gilbert has been given lately: In September, Gilbert, along with Chandler and Scottsdale, were named among the most prosperous cities in the nation.
