PHOENIX — Several eastbound lanes of Interstate 10 west of the Phoenix area have reopened Friday afternoon after a morning crash caused lengthy delays on the highway.

The Arizona Department of Public Transportation said the highway reopened between mileposts 45 and 77. However, officials said only one lane was open at milepost 77 for crash cleanup, so delays were still to be expected. Westbound lanes were unaffected.

The Arizona Department of Public Safety said the crash at milepost 77 — about 80 miles from the Arizona-California border — happened when a semi-truck rear-ended another semi-truck.

Crews were working to extricate one person. It was unknown if anyone was injured.

DPS said drivers were being detoured onto U.S. 60, where they would pass through Wickenburg before heading back into the Phoenix area.

The detour added about 40 miles to the drive.
