PHOENIX — We know: All of these national food days are wreaking havoc on your diet but we don’t feel that bad because it gives us all an excuse to enjoy some of the best places the Valley has to offer.

Take, for example, Wednesday, Sept. 20, which is better known as National Pepperoni Pizza Day.

We feel like this would be an appropriate time to remind you that the Valley has some of the best pizza in the country and two of the nation’s top pizza cities are likely a short drive away from you right now.

The pizza scene in the Phoenix area is only getting better as some of the country’s most popular chains — here’s looking at you, Lou Malnati’s and Giordano’s — have begun to open locations in the place we call home.

If you’ve somehow managed to miss out on all this news, however, Wednesday might be the perfect time to scrap your dinner plans and head to one (or two or three, we won’t judge) of the spots below.

We chose the top eight places that Yelp said serve some of the best pepperoni pizza in town.

Why eight? Simple: That’s about the perfect number of slices for a large pizza.

We want to hear from you.
