The Scottsdale-based internet domain registrar GoDaddy is expanding its Gilbert offices with a $15 million investment, according to Phoenix Business Journal.
The facility in Gilbert will be 180,000 square feet and will help retain nearly 1,400 jobs. The renovations are to begin this fall and are planned to be completed by early 2020.
“As Gilbert’s largest employer in the technology industry, it was important for the town to retain the nearly 1,400 existing jobs and ensure the longevity of GoDaddy’s presence in our community,” said Gilbert Mayor Jenn Daniels. “We look forward to watching this global company grow right here in Gilbert.”
GoDaddy has over 3,000 employees in Arizona, which include their headquarters in Scottsdale and a technology center in Tempe.
The authorization of the retention payment on the customer-service center in Gilbert was voted on by a town council in early August. The money was coming from an economic development reserve fund.
