Heavy rain, winds run through Fountain Hills on the way to Valley

PHOENIX — A thunderstorm made its way through Fountain Hills Tuesday night, moving southwest on the way to the Valley.

Severe thunderstorm warnings were deployed by the National Weather Service for Apache Junction and Fountain Hills shortly before 6:45 p.m. until 7:15 p.m.

The storm brought winds as strong as 60 miles per hour and heavy downpours. An area east of Fountain Hills saw 0.2-to-0.3 inches of rain, according to NWS.

As the storm went through Fountain Hills, it moved southwest, losing some of its strength along the way. Rain began to hit parts of the Valley at the start of the seven o’clock hour. APS’ power outage map showed over 600 customers without power in Paradise Valley.

The Payson area also saw strong storms. APS reported over 3,000 customers without power in the area Tuesday night.
