MESA, Ariz. — The funeral services for Arizona politician Wil Cardon will take place Friday, according to the East Valley Tribune.
The funeral services will take place at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Arcadia Building in Phoenix at 11 a.m. His wife said Sunday that he had died of suicide after a lifelong struggle with depression.
The Republican businessman unsuccessfully ran against now Sen. Jeff Flake in the primary in 2012. Cardon also lost a bid for Arizona Secretary of State in 2014.
Flake in a Twitter tribute called Cardon a friend who called to check on him after a Washington baseball game shooting left a congressman wounded.
Cardon was 46 years old. He is also survived by five children.
