PHOENIX — President Donald Trump paid tribute to members of the Marine Corps in Arizona in a tweet on his personal Twitter account on Thursday.

“A GREAT HONOR to spend time with our BRAVE HEROES at the  @USMC Air Station Yuma. THANK YOU for your service to the United States of America!” the tweet read.

The tweet included a 1:44-minute video with clips of Trump meeting with Marines at the air station in Yuma, Arizona. The president visited Yuma on Tuesday, hours before holding a campaign-style rally in Phoenix.

Trump was rumored to visit the border during his visit to Yuma, but that was not confirmed by the White House.

The tweet was posted Thursday night and had amassed more than 5,000 retweets and more than 23,000 likes since then.

Thousands of supporters and protesters came out for Trump’s rally on Tuesday.

The rally started peacefully, and ended with police spraying protesters with tear gas and pepper spray in an effort to disperse them from populated downtown areas once the rally was over.

Multiple protesters were arrested — one for allegedly threatening police. Phoenix Police Chief Jeri Williams praised the department, giving officers an A-plus for their actions on Tuesday.

We want to hear from you.
