Extra restrictions in place for Phoenix area freeways this weekend

PHOENIX — The Arizona Department of Transportation recently announced that Indian School Road near Interstate 17 is going to be closed this weekend because of wrong-way vehicle detection project installation.
ADOT announced extra travel restrictions will be in place starting Friday in the Phoenix area.
- Eastbound Interstate 10 will be closed between the I-17 “Stack” interchange and State Route 51 from 9 p.m. Friday to 9 a.m. Saturday for quarterly tunnel cleaning and maintenance. Northbound and southbound I-17 ramps to eastbound I-10 will also be closed.
- Westbound I-10 will be closed between the I-17 “Split” interchange and Seventh Avenue from 9 p.m. Saturday to 9 a.m. Sunday for tunnel maintenance. Southbound SR 51 ramp to westbound I-10 will also be closed. The westbound Loop 202 ramp to westbound I-10 will be open but traffic will have to exit I-10 at Seventh Street and use alternate routes.
- Westbound Northern Avenue left turns to southbound I-17 on-ramp will not be permitted through 5 a.m. of Aug. 25 for utility line work. Northbound I-17 frontage road will be closed to through traffic at the end of northbound I-17 off-ramp.
- Westbound I-10 will be narrowed to one lane between State Route 587 and the Gila River Bridge from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. Sunday through Thursday for pavement improvements.
- Westbound I-10 ramp to northbound Loop 303 in Goodyear will be closed from 10 p.m. Friday to 5 p.m. Saturday for bridge structure painting.
- Westbound I-10 off-ramp at 59th Avenue will be closed from 3 a.m. Saturday to 8 p.m. Sunday for Loop 202 South Mountain Freeway interchange construction.
- Eastbound I-10 will be narrowed to one lane overnight at 59th Avenue from 9 p.m. Sunday to 5 a.m. Monday for bridge work.
