Propane truck fire shuts down Interstate 17 near Black Canyon City

PHOENIX — A propane truck caught on fire near Black Canyon City on Tuesday, causing a closure of Interstate 17 near Table Mesa Road that lasted into the next morning.
The Phoenix Fire Department said initial reports were a tire blew out on the fuel tanker, which then caught on fire.
The road reopened around 2 a.m. Wednesday.

Northbound traffic was forced to exit at New River Road and southbound traffic had to exit at Rock Springs.
Drivers could use alternate routes. State Route 87 to SR 260 through Payson and Camp Verde can connect drivers from Phoenix to northern Arizona. Drivers could also take U.S. 60 to U.S. 93 and SR 89 through Wickenburg and Prescott.
