PHOENIX — Two-thirds of registered voters in Arizona believe President Donald Trump tweets too much, according to a poll released Friday.
Of Republicans polled, 42 percent said it was too much.
OH/Predictive Insights, based in Phoenix, polled more than 700 active registered, Arizona Democrats, Republicans, independents and non-declareds. Participation was based on active voter registration numbers.
“It’s been interesting. Since before the age of Donald Trump, if you didn’t know what Twitter was, I believe you do now,” OH Predictive Insights chief pollster Mike Noble told KTAR 92.3 FM’s Arizona’s Morning News.
The two-question poll was conducted July 26 and included “How would you rate President Trump when it comes to the frequency of his tweeting?”
Overall, 64 percent of respondents rated the president’s tweeting as too much, with 72 percent of independents saying Trump tweeted too much.
The Republican Trump won the state in November with 48 percent of the vote.
Other answer options for the poll were: Not enough, which garnered 4 percent overall; Just about right, which got 38 percent from Republicans and 17 percent from independents; and Don’t know/not sure, which had 10 percent overall.
“If 2 out of every 3 people you meet say you should tone it down – you may want to use Twitter more strategically,” Noble said.
Trump has become known for sending a flurry of early-morning tweets about policy, opponents, international relations and tweets that announce staff changes at the White House before making a formal announcement.
