The man who walked into the Walgreens at Seventh Street and McDowell Road on Tuesday, Aug. 30, 2016, might as well have been wearing a sign that said, “Here comes trouble.”

“The suspect actually wore a green camouflage hooded sweater,” Phoenix Police Detective Kim Neis said. “So definitely something suspicious when somebody’s wearing that type of clothing in August in Phoenix.”

The man acted like a shopper, grabbed a pack of gum and brought it up to the counter.

“And then when the register opened, he pulled out a gun and demanded all the money,” Neis said.

The clerk gave him the cash and the guy took off in an early 2000s maroon Mercury four-door sedan.

Next, what you say can get you in a lot of trouble. On Sunday, April 2 at about 9 p.m., the clerk at the Circle K at 36th Street and Indian School Road was locking the front doors when our suspect showed up.

“He tried to push on the doors, saying ‘This is a robbery,’ but the clerk was able to get the doors closed and locked.”

Neis said that even though he never got in, “Just by saying, ‘This is a robbery’ makes it an attempted robbery even though there was no property stolen. Just the mere statement of it makes it a crime.”

This suspect appeared to only be about 16 years old. He stands about 5-foot-6 and is of average weight. He has tattoos on the left side of his neck and on his left forearm.
