5 Texas schoolchildren had contact with US Ebola patient

A Dallas school district official confirmed Wednesday morning that five students may have come into contact with the man who has been diagnosed with Ebola.
The unidentified man is the first person diagnosed with the virus in the United States.
The Dallas Independent School District posted on its website that the children weren’t exhibiting any signs and that they were under observation by the Dallas County Health and Human Services Department. The families had been advised not to send the children to their schools — a high school, middle school and two elementary schools.
Superintendent Mike Miles said the students had been at school earlier in the week and possibly came into contact with the man, who had come to Texas from Liberia. He is being treated at a Dallas hospital and hadn’t shown any symptoms until days after the flight landed.
“It is also important to know that individuals are not contagious until symptoms appear. Because of this, there is no imminent danger to children in the school district.”

The patient went to Texas to visit family and was hospitalized over the weekend.
