PHOENIX — Police in Phoenix fatally shot a man on a bicycle they said fired at them early Wednesday.
Officers were in the area of 35th Avenue and Deer Valley Road around 1 a.m. when they spotted a man on a bicycle without a headlight. Sgt. Alan Pfohl said officers tried to stop him but the man fled on the bike.
“The subject then dropped his bike and began shooting at officers. Those officers returned fire and ended the threat,” Pfohl said.
The man, whose name has not been released, was 35 years old.
The officers were unhurt.
Pfohl said the suspect had felony warrants for weapons violations.
