PHOENIX — Border agents followed dozens of footprints into a wooded area near Nogales, Arizona and found over $550,000 of marijuana.
The 1,100 pounds was hidden in the brush. U.S. Customs and Border Protection said Nogales Station agents and K-9s were patrolling mountain roads to the east because the area was a commonly used route for smugglers.
They followed the tracks a few miles before finding the marijuana but no people.
The marijuana was taken to the station to be processed.
