PHOENIX — Chris Bianco has long been known in the Phoenix area for making some pretty darn good pizza and he took his talents to Los Angeles on Monday.
The chef taught both late-night host Jimmy Kimmel and famed actor Billy Crystal how to make his signature dish.
The trio started off by cracking a few jokes to get the audience warmed up. Crystal asked Bianco — who has a strong Bronx accent — if he was from France.
“East France. You make a right at the light,” Bianco joked.
But then they all got down to business. Bianco started by showing Crystal how to make a nice sauce for the pizza, including hand-mixing the tomatoes with olive juice. He put Kimmel to work hand-squeezing the mozzarella.
Bianco then whipped up his signature dough and showed the Hollywood guys how pizza is made in Arizona.
He went through the recipe — well, sort of, as Bianco was making a ton of jokes — and tossed the pie in the oven.
The whole interaction was really funny and, after a while, even Kimmel and Crystal just stood back and watched Bianco work.
He was on the show to promote his new book, the aptly named “Bianco,” which was scheduled to come out July 25.
