PHOENIX — The weather in Arizona so far this year has made for one of the warmest starts to a calendar year ever recorded in the Grand Canyon State.
According to the National Weather Service, the temperatures in Arizona from January of this year through June have made for the third-warmest start to a year on record.

Their tweet shows that some individual months this calendar year have also been among the warmest on record. February was the ninth-warmest, March was the fourth-warmest, and June was the second-warmest.
The NWS also said the chance of 2017 being an “above normal” year is 99.8 percent, and it will likely go down as one of the warmest years in history.
Arizona’s hot weather has prompted multiple excessive heat warnings this year already, and a June heat wave caused record-breaking temperatures. Just a few days ago, Arizona set yet another daily heat record — doing so by a wide margin on July 7.
Storms that hit Phoenix in monsoon season could bring some relief from the hot temperatures.
