PHOENIX — A Mesa teenager was charged Friday for allegedly breaking into a home and stealing items and money from a woman.
The Mesa Police Department said the 16-year-old — who will not be identified because of his age — knocked on the door and rang the doorbell at the home near Southern Avenue and the Loop 101 before breaking in Sunday.
Police said the teenager used the ax to break out an arcadia door. After the woman locked herself in the bathroom, he used the ax to break through the bathroom door.
The teenager allegedly took items and money from the woman before fleeing the area.
The teenager was charged with kidnapping, first-degree burglary, armed robbery, aggravated assault and two counts of third-degree burglary.
