PHOENIX — Everybody traveling to and from the Valley enjoyed limited construction on the roadways during Fourth of July weekend.
That’s not going to be the case this upcoming weekend.
The Arizona Department of Transportation announced a travel advisory for July 7-10, which includes a full closure of westbound Interstate 10 at 59th Avenue.
Other freeways will be restricted throughout the weekend, as well. Drivers should consider taking alternate routes when planning to hit the road starting Friday evening.
- Westbound I-10 will be closed at 59th Avenue from 10 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday for bridge construction at Loop 202 South Mountain Freeway interchange. This is the second of two planned weekend closures, with the first happening June 23-26. Westbound I-10 on-ramps at 43rd and 51st avenues will also be closed.
- Southbound Interstate 17 will be closed from the I-10 “Stack” interchange and 19th Avenue from 10 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday for permanent lane striping on new rubberized asphalt pavement. Both I-10 ramps to southbound I-17 will be closed, but the southbound I-17 ramps to I-10 at the Stack interchange will remain open.
