Pizza People Pub in downtown Phoenix sold to new owners

Jul 3, 2017, 11:58 AM

The downtown Phoenix restaurant formerly known as Pizza People Pub was officially sold to new owners on Monday, according to Arizona Restaurant Sales’ public listings database.

Now it’s a wonder if the former pizza place just off Roosevelt Row will keep a similar theme and menu.

The restaurant’s Facebook page posted a picture of the new owners standing in front of Pizza People Pub on Sunday. The two said they wanted to follow in the footsteps of the former owners.

Pizza People Pub officially closed its doors on June 11.

“The saturation of new restaurants in central Phoenix, a skilled labor shortage, the recent wage increase, rising food costs, etc…,” read a Facebook post by the former owners. “Restaurant success relies on volume business and despite our best efforts, Pizza People just wasn’t seeing the customer numbers needed to meet the rising operating costs.”

Followers of the old Pizza People Pub, which operated on the space along Central Avenue and south of Roosevelt Street for six years, expressed relief that a new business is moving in — and several hoped that it would stick with what made them fans of the former restaurant.

“This made my day! I hope you are keeping the menu the same…. I need my Korean Sweet & Spicy mac!” read one post.

Added another fan: “We loved all the yummy vegan and gluten-free options!”

We want to hear from you.
