PHOENIX — After nearly a half-century of alerting Valley residents to sunshine, rain, wind, dust storms and flash floods, longtime Phoenix TV weatherman Dave Munsey has retired.

Munsey, who delivered the weather news at Fox Channel 10, ended his 42 years at the station with Thursday night’s broadcast. His was the longest tenure at one station of any Valley TV personality.

Coworkers professed their admiration for him a video tribute and even established a table at one of his favorite Phoenix restaurants — iconic Durant’s — in his honor.

During the broadcast, the Emmy-winning Munsey said he cherished the people he’d worked with and people he’s met on the street over the years.

Inducted into the Arizona Broadcasters Hall of Fame in 2016, Munsey announced his impending departure in April.

His nightly sign-off, “Watch your kids around water,” became his mantra starting in 1980 after the child of friends drowned.

Coworkers weren’t the only people who hit up social media to bid farewell to Munsey.

Munsey and his wife, Bunny, live in Tempe.

We want to hear from you.
