It may have taken more than four decades, but three of Elton John’s biggest hits have finally gotten their own music videos.

People reports the videos — for “Rocket Man,” “Tiny Dancer” and “Bennie and the Jets” — were created during a contest put on by YouTube, lyricist Bernie Taupin and John.

The contest basically offered the internet a shot at creating a music video for the three tunes. And boy, did people come through.

Maid Adin’s video for “Rocket Man” was animated. People said the video was based on his experience of immigrating to England after being a refugee in Iran.

The video for “Tiny Dancer,” created by Max Weiland, focused on about a dozen people driving around Los Angeles. It seemed like a simple idea, but something about the glimpse into multiple people’s lives was a little hypnotic.

There were also a few clever shots that lined up nicely with the lyrics. Also, keep an eye out for a few cameos. The video is based in Los Angeles, after all.

“Bennie and the Jets” served as the background tune for a futuristic talent show. It was filmed in black and white, a nod to the Hollywood of old.

It was created by Jack Whiteley and Laura Brownhill.

“I’ve been moved and amazed by these re-imaginings of our songs and pretty humbled by the process overall,” John told the magazine.

“The future of creativity is clearly collaborative, fusing art and technology and it’s been fantastic to open up our work to the next generation of creative talent and to share that process with the world on YouTube.”
