Inspired by ‘Star Wars,’ Kylo named among most popular boys’ names in 2016

PHOENIX — It looks like a lot of fans of the “Star Wars” movie franchise gave birth to baby boys in 2016.
Kylo — yes, as in that Kylo — was among the most popular boy names in 2016, jumping 2,368 spots to take the spot at No. 901, according to Forbes.com.
It was the biggest mover for boys’ names in 2016, meaning a lot of people were moved by Adam Driver’s performance in the 2015 blockbuster hit “Star Wars: The Force Awakens.”
The second fastest rising name for boys in 2016, Creed, also spawned from a well-known movie franchise. Creed, as in Apollo Creed, premiered in 2015 and followed Rocky as he trained Creed’s son, Adonis.
In contrast, the most popular name for boys in 2016 remained unchanged for four years and counting: Noah.
The biggest moving name for girls in 2016 was Kehlani, which was most likely due to the rise of singer/songwriter Kehlani Parrish, who was nominated for a Grammy Award in 2016.
The most popular girls’ name also remained unchanged for the third year in a row, Emma.
