PHOENIX — A former teacher at a Tempe middle school has been charged with several sex crimes after having an inappropriate relationship with a student.

According to court documents, 26-year-old Kara Loofborough allegedly had illegal contact with one her 13-year-old students from Fees College Preparatory School.

“There was a time that she admitted driving over to his house and the two of them being in her vehicle and at that point is when he touched her breasts,” Tempe Police Sgt. Josie Montenegro said.

Montenegro also said the science teacher sent boy sexually explicit videos and the pair participated in inappropriate video chatting over Facebook.

“Video chatting with him — during those communications, there were times when [Loofborough] has showed her breast at him and her vaginal area while doing the chatting,” Montenegro said.

In addition, Loofborough is also accused of showing the boy lewd videos and sending him links to pornographic websites.

Court documents showed the boy’s father contacted police about Loofborough after he checked his son’s phone log and noticed some odd behavior.

The father confronted Loofborough, who apologized and asked the father to not call the police.

Loofborough later turned herself in. She was charged with luring a minor for sexual exploitation, indecent exposure and furnishing harmful items to a minor.
