Police searching for two aggressive Valley robbers from 2017 crimes

This article originally appeared April 24, 2017.

If the armed robber who struck High City Smoke Shop in the southwest Valley was trying to terrify someone, mission accomplished.

“He definitely came in with force and intimidation and demanded the money from the register and the clerk’s cellphone,” Phoenix Police Department Detective Kim Neis said.

The man, wearing a dark hoodie, was carrying a rifle when he walked into the store at 83rd Avenue and Lower Buckeye Road just before 10 p.m. on Feb. 18, 2017. He stuck that rifle in the clerk’s face.

“We call certain events life-changing. This was one of those events,” Neis said.

“It’s scary enough to be robbed at all with any kind of weapon but it just seems to show a greater level of intent and intimidation when someone comes in with that kind of weapon.”

The clerk wasn’t hurt and the robber got the money and took off.

Next, we head to the Home Depot on Country Club Road just south of the U.S. 60 in Mesa.

It was the afternoon of Feb. 27, 2017, when the store’s loss-prevention officer was alerted of a shoplifter. As the suspect headed out the door with his loot, the employee approached him and the fight was on.

That’s when a woman drove up, the suspect climbed in the car and the pair took off.

The vehicle is described as a white, 2002-2005 four-door Nissan Altima with tinted windows. It had dark wheels and rims.

The Home Depot worker was hurt but will be OK.
