PHOENIX — Stylish clothing retailer Banana Republic has closed doors at two metro Phoenix shopping centers.
The Phoenix Business Journal reported the stores at Scottsdale Fashion Square and Chandler Fashion Center went out of business this week.
In an email to the publication, Julie Van Vliet, a spokeswoman for parent company Gap, Inc., wrote, “I can confirm that both the Scottsdale Fashion Square and Chandler Fashion Center Banana Republic stores closed on March 26.”
Gap Inc., which also oversees Old Navy, Gap and Athleta, has closed 113 stores worldwide since last November, while opening 30 others.
The company recently appointed a new global CEO of struggling Banana Republic, Marc Breitbard.
Banana Republics remained in operation at Kierland Commons in Phoenix and San Tan Village in Gilbert, along with outlets in Glendale, Anthem and Phoenix.
Last year, Barneys New York closed at Scottsdale Fashion Square.
