Uber resumes self-driving car testing in Valley after weekend crash

PHOENIX — Uber resumed its self-driving car testing program in the Valley on Monday after one of the vehicles was involved in a weekend crash.
Reuters reported that the decision to continue testing the vehicles was made after the company conducted a brief investigation into the crash that left the self-driving vehicle on its side.
After the collision, Uber suspended the self-driving car services in all three test cities, including the Valley, as a precaution.
The car was operating in self-drive mode on Friday near McClintock Drive and Apache Boulevard in Tempe when it was struck by a car turning left. Police said the Uber vehicle was obeying the law and the driver of the other car failed to yield.
A more detailed report on the crash could be released as soon as this week.
There were no passengers in the Uber vehicle, but two operators were in the front seats.
No one was seriously injured in the crash.
