PHOENIX — With the hot weather around the Valley, it’s hard to resist jumping into the pool everyday and staying there for hours to cool off.
Kids feel the same way, with the obvious problem being many young ones don’t know how to swim yet. For that reason, many children drown in the Phoenix area in their own pools.
Stryder was pulled unconscious from his family pool over two years ago, but he is alive and well today, and the Phoenix Fire Department celebrated his birthday while spreading awareness to the dangers of pools.
Stryder turned 4 years old on Sunday and got to try out a fire hose and sit in a firetruck on his special day.
His mother continues to share his story of how a neighbor saved the boy’s life with CPR before crews arrived and provided life support.
Accidents can be avoided and lives can be saved if we all adhere to the ABC’s of water safety, according to Phoenix FD; Adult supervision, Barriers and Classes.
