It seems flashbacks to the 1980s are showing up more and more in today’s pop culture and we now have the best flashback yet.
In its new ad campaign, Domino’s Pizza recreated the famous running scene in “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off” to promote the chain’s new tracker technology.
And when we say recreate, we mean recreate. The nearly two-minute ad is practically a shot-for-shot remake of the scene where Ferris is shown running through neighborhood backyards in a desperate attempt to get home before his parents.
“While we modernized the classic scene with Domino’s Tracker technology and Domino’s custom-built delivery car, the DXP, the scene otherwise stays true to the ’80s Paramount cult classic,” Karen Kaiser, Domino’s vice president of advertising, said in a statement to AdWeek.
There is also a cameo from a “Ferris Bueller” cast member, but we don’t want to spoil the surprise.
Domino’s didn’t stop at just one ad, though. It also recreated the famous “Life moves pretty fast. If you don’t stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it” speech, along with more shots from the film.
We have to add that Joe Keery, who plays the part of Ferris but is enjoying buzz thanks to the Netflix hit “Stranger Things,” does a pretty solid job capturing the iconic ’80s character.
