PHOENIX — Police in a Phoenix suburb released body camera footage this week of an altercation that ended with a pregnant woman in handcuffs, accusations of police brutality and two officers pulled off the streets.

The Gilbert Police Department arrested 24-year-old Rickeda Jobe outside of a house near Gilbert and Elliot roads earlier this month.

Witnesses recorded the altercation and posted it on YouTube. Two other women can be heard shouting, “Hey, quit hitting her! You cannot do that …. he punched her in the face!”

The body camera footage — which KTAR News elected to not post because of profanity — showed Jobe being argumentative with officers and, when she tells them she is leaving, the officers tell her she is being detained on a possible probation violation. Jobe also asked officers if they knew certain people in “the cartel.”

Jobe’s mother told officers Jobe entered her home and was in an argument with other people in the house. A court had previously banned Jobe from the premises.

Jobe allegedly bit, kicked and spit at officers. She also made threats.

The footage showed officers pushing Jobe against a police vehicle and repeatedly urging her to stop resisting. It appears that one officer may have struck Jobe in the face, but it is unclear if he punched her or was grabbing for her.

The altercation was filmed and posted on YouTube. Two other women can be heard shouting, “Hey, quit hitting her! You cannot do that …. he punched her in the face!”

Two of the three officers who were involved in the confrontation, B. Wilson and R. Sheppard, have been placed on restricted duty, Gilbert Police spokesman Lt. Hugh White said.

Jobe was arrested for violating a court order, resisting arrest and aggravated assault on police officers.
