Urgent care chain to offer free scans of Halloween candy in East Valley

Urgent care offices usually just check a person’s health, but this Halloween, NextCare locations in Mesa and Chandler will scan your kids’ Halloween candy for free.
The East Valley Tribune reports five NextCare urgent care locations will perform screenings for free. Screenings will show if candy was tampered with or if it contains dangerous items like safety pins or razors.
Parents should always look over Halloween candy after trick-or-treating.
NextCare also recommends parents throw out unwrapped candy, search for choking hazards like hard candy and gum, and look at the ingredients for allergy purposes.
You can visit one of these East Valley NextCare locations on Oct. 31 or Nov. 1 to get your candy screened:
