PHOENIX — In a report released by WalletHub this week, three Phoenix suburbs were listed among America’s 20 hardest working cities.

Scottsdale finished at No. 6 overall, Gilbert at No. 14 and Chandler at No. 19.

The financial analysis website and service, ranked 116 cities across six metrics.

Scottsdale came in behind Anchorage, Alaska; Plano, Texas; Cheyenne, Wyo.; Virginia Beach, Va. and Irving, Texas.

Gilbert came in at No. 14, while Chandler ranked 19th in the study.

Phoenix came in 51st and was followed by Mesa (70), Glendale (74) and Tucson (110).

Eighty-percent of WalletHub’s rankings were scored on “direct work factors.” Sixty of those points were dependent on average work week hours, and 20 were based on labor-force participation weight.

The study added 20 percent of each city’s score based on “indirect work factors,” which included average commute time, share of workers with multiple jobs, volunteer hours per resident and leisure time spent per day.
