Arizona House bill would dissolve State Parks Board

A piece of legislation passed by the Arizona House of Representatives would eliminate the Arizona State Parks Board.
House Bill 2369 would, among other things, replace the Arizona State Parks Board with a single State Parks director, appointed by Governor Doug Ducey. The bill passed the House and is awaiting vote by the State Senate. It’s sponsored by T.J. Shope, a Republican representing the 8th District from Pinal County.
The board currently has seven members, including its executive director, Sue Black.
Arizona currently boasts dozens of parks including Lake Havasu State Park, Red Rock State Park in Sedona and Lost Dutchman State Park.
