Phoenix-area women go viral after ‘dumping Nordstrom’ over Ivanka Trump brand

PHOENIX — A video of a group of Phoenix-area women cancelling their Nordstrom accounts after the retailer announced it would stop selling Ivanka Trump’s clothing has gone viral.
Business Insider reported Laurie Ray posted a Facebook video of herself and seven women visiting a Nordstrom store in Chandler, Arizona, on Wednesday to cancel their accounts.
The women, some of whom donned President Donald Trump shirts that said “Haters Gonna Hate” and carried handfuls of cash, explained they were cancelling their accounts because Nordstrom “caved.”
“I’ve been shopping at Nordstrom for 30 years,” said one woman in the video. “Because of your decision to drop Ivanka Trump, I will no longer shop at your store, nor will my husband or our nine children or our eight grandchildren.”
The women declared they would instead shop at Dillard’s, which still sells the Trump brand.
The video has more than 1.6 million views and has been shared more than 21,000 times as of Friday.
In a Facebook post, one of the women in the video said the women did not expect the video to go viral and did not want it to generate hate.
“We had no intent of ever entertaining anyone other than our few fb friends/family and enjoying a good time together as girlfriends,” the post read. “I am thrilled to find that we were not alone in this cause and that thousands and thousands and thousands of others were doing the exact same thing as us.”
The retailer announced in February it would stop selling Trump’s clothing and accessories line due to poor sales. The move came amid a “Grab Your Wallet” social media campaign, which supporting boycotting stores that stocked Trump products.
