Website chooses most beautiful places to visit in Arizona

PHOENIX — Arizona is not all desert, despite what many people may believe.

With exotic plants, animals, and amazing mountain ranges, the state has some of the most beautiful places and is home to one of the seven natural wonders of the world.

In honor of Arizona’s 105th birthday, here are some of most beautiful places in the state, rated by popular lifestyle website Thrillist.

The Arizona Biltmore Hotel, located in Central Phoenix, has been a very popular destination for presidential visits. The almost 90-year-old hotel has had every president since Herbert Hoover to George W. Bush stay there. The famous Catalina Pool was said to be Marilyn Monroe's favorite.

The Grand Canyon, one of the seven natural wonders of the world, is a chasm about 277 miles long and up to 18 miles wide. It has approximately 70 species of mammals, 250 species of birds, 25 types of reptiles and five species of amphibians. The canyon get near 5 million visitors a year.

Phoenix's Desert Botanical Garden is a 140-acre garden filled with 50,000 desert plants on display across five trails. The trails teach about conservation, desert wildlife, plants and people in the Sonoran Desert.

William Wrigley Jr.'s Wrigley Mansion, is located in central Phoenix. The mansion was built in the early 1930s by the gum magnate as a gift to his wife. Now, it is a restaurant and event venue.

Tempe's Top of the Rock restaurant sits at the top of the Phoenix Marriott Tempe at the Buttes. The restaurant has large windows that wrap around the building, offering a 360-view of the city.

Janet Echelman's Her Secret is Patience sculpture is a sight to see in downtown Phoenix's Civic Space Park. The 145-foot-tall sculpture is made of net and is also illuminated at night.
