Hey, slacktivists: Why not get off the couch and actually do something?

It looks like this presidency is shaping up early as President Donald Trump versus the “slacktivists.”
If you’re new to my brand of snark, slacktivists are those that spout off on social media and then move on with their lives. They do nothing about the actual problem that caused them to spout off.
The latest example of this is the confirmation of Betsy DeVos as secretary of education.
Some see this woman as uneducated, unintelligent, uninformed, and unqualified. I don’t agree, but I could be wrong.
The slactivists have taken to social media to rail against her confirmation and cry foul. So here’s my challenge: What else are they going to do about it?
Are they going to get involved with their local PTA? Are they going to volunteer at a local school? How about volunteering at someone else’s school?
When was the last time they met with the superintendent of their school district? When was the last time they met with the assistant superintendent? Do they even know where the district office is?
The answer to most of these questions is probably nope! They aren’t going to do anything but make a snarky comment on social media and move on — again.
So why even take the time?
There are some that are marching in protest of certain policies or just Trump himself. I don’t agree with most of these people, but I tip my hat to them because they are taking a leap above just posting something online and moving on.
So why do the slacktivists do it?
They do it for a few cheap likes or shares on the social media page so they can feel better about themselves, feel little smarter and feel like they’ve done their part as an American to rail against the system.
I have one suggestion for the slacktivists: Get over yourselves!
Or, better yet, put the laptop down, get your butt off of the couch and go do something about the problems that you were railing against!
