PHOENIX — Fill up on the cheap while you can, Arizona: Gas is expected to begin its annual rise to summer prices soon.
Patrick DeHaan with GasBuddy.com said Arizonans were paying about $2.10 per gallon in February. He said those prices will likely stick around or even fall a bit before the hike.
“We’ve been on a small bit of a decline over the past week or so we could see prices actually drop a bit in the next few days as refiners get rid of their cheaper winter gas inventories,” he said.
But DeHaan said those prices will likely change around March 1.
“Prices will go up with the switch over to summer blend fuel,” he said.
Thankfully, DeHaan said gas won’t be hitting $3 per gallon.
“By summer, we’ll see prices from $2.50 to $2.75 per gallon,” he said.
DeHaan said low oil prices — barrels are going for about $54 now compared to $100 per barrel three years ago — are the reason gas should stay under $3 per gallon.
